Pigmentation & uneven tone

Pigmentation is extra colour (melanin) building up in patches: sun spots, melasma, marks left after acne, or a general unevenness that makeup never quite hides.

It's our main speciality. Different types sit at different depths and react differently to heat, so the right plan matters more than any single device.

Common causes

  • Sun exposure over many years
  • Hormones (melasma), including pregnancy and the pill
  • Marks left after breakouts or irritation
  • Heat and inflammation, including from the wrong treatment

How we treat it

We identify the type of pigment first. Surface sun spots usually respond well to light-based treatment; melasma needs a gentler, staged approach that calms the skin while it brightens. Every plan includes sun protection and homecare, because pigment comes back without them.

A typical melasma plan

  1. A skin consultation at your first session, and 2 weeks of skin prep at home
  2. 3–4 sessions of bio microneedling, 4–6 weeks apart
  3. Daily SPF 50 and brightening homecare
  4. A maintenance session every 3–6 months ($300 each)

The course usually comes to $900–$1,200 ($300 a session), then about $600–$1,200 a year in maintenance, plus homecare products. You'll get your exact plan and total in writing at the consultation, and you only buy products you want.

Treatments that help

Questions

I had laser before and my pigment got worse. Why?

Melasma reacts to heat. Strong laser or IPL can inflame it and make it darker, especially on Asian and olive skin. We calm the skin first and use non-heat treatments for melasma, keeping light-based treatment for sun spots.

Can melasma be cured?

Melasma can be faded and kept under control, but it can return with sun and hormones. That's why we plan maintenance and homecare, not just a course of treatments.

How many sessions will I need?

Mild spots may clear in 1–2 sessions. Deeper or hormonal pigment usually needs 3–4, spaced 4–6 weeks apart. You'll get a clear number and a total price at your consultation.

My skin is dull and I have sun spots. Where do I start?

Many clients start with one IPL session for the spots and a Hydra Infusion a couple of weeks later for glow. We'll confirm at your consultation.

Let's look at your skin together

Book the treatment that sounds closest. Every visit starts with a 15–30 minute skin consultation, so we can look at your skin, explain what's going on and change the plan if something else would suit you better.
